The Last Hurrah of Summer

straw hat, eyeglasses and open book resting on a hammockThe kids are back in school, and Labor Day is right around the corner. Even though the official start of fall is still a few weeks away, rolling into September always feels like the last hurrah of summer. At least to me. Fortunately, we have a long three day weekend in which to wave goodbye.

Labor Day, conceived to honor the contribution and achievements of American workers, became a Federal holiday in 1894. Since that time, it has been celebrated with cookouts, parades, and—of course—a relaxing time spent with family and friends.

However you choose to celebrate your long Labor Day weekend, may it be an enjoyable one!
