The Features Home Buyers Desire the Most

open living settingA recent article in our local Home Builder’s Association newsletter revealed the results of a survey taken by thousands of current home buyers. According to the report, buyers are interested in homes that exceed the square footage of those they are leaving, but still about 13% smaller than the average size of the homes started last year.

It’s Soon Time to Move Outside!

outdoor deck with beautiful living areaIn anticipation of the onset of warmer weather, my wife and I invested in a fire pit for our deck this past weekend. We are both envisioning many enjoyable evenings in the crisp, cool air of spring in idle conversation. This is the way we felt we needed to upgrade our deck for our use. If you have a deck that is aging, you may have other needs to get your space ready for the season.

Aging deck structures, harsh storms, high temperatures, and a lack of routine maintenance can increase the risk of a deck injury. Hundreds of reported deck accidents occur annually.

Seller Tips: How to Choose a Listing Agent

real estate agent meeting with coupleIn recent years Brownstone Real Estate Company has led our market area in listings sold by a rather large margin. As the co-owner of Brownstone, this statistic gives me a sense of pride. When sellers put what is probably their largest investment in our hands we undertake a huge responsibility. It is our job to properly market the home and give good, solid, advice to the seller.

So, what advice could I give a seller when they are trying to choose a company and an individual agent to represent them? Here are some of my thoughts.

The Ridgeway-Vian Milton S. Hershey Student Home

Photo of Ridgeway BuildingOur Hershey Brownstone office is located in the original Ridgeway-Vian Milton Hershey Student Home. It gives us a unique perspective of Hershey past and present, especially when a visitor pops in and asks to look around the office. Many remember when the building was a student home. A few have even shared stories of when they lived here. Naturally, the building has been redesigned for office space, but the original structure and enduring history remain.

The photo to the left is how the building appeared prior to renovations.
